Burdens

The fundamental difference between fiction and fact:

“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.”
Charles Dickens

“Nor can a bearer of burdens bear another’s burdens if one heavily laden should call another to (bear) his load. Not the least portion of it can be carried (by the other). Even though he be nearly related. Thou canst but admonish such as fear their Lord unseen and establish regular Prayer. And whoever purifies himself does so for the benefit of his own soul; and the destination (of all) is to Allah.”
Qur’an 35:18

What does this mean?

It means that we can help each other with physical burdens, that is simply good manners.

It means that we can help each other with financial burdens, with mental/feeling/emotional and psychological burdens, that is simply good counsel.

It means that our spiritual burdens are solely a personal and utterly intimate matter between the created and The Creator, that is simply good news.

For, as the awaited Isa (Christ) once said:
Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30 RSV).
