Union of opposites

Travelling through the calamity of past events
Rocks from outer space
Or missiles from inner space
Destruction happened anyway
Consciousness survived, or has it?

Components of consciousness
Exponents of self regard
Flailing arms of warning, unheeded
For though you need
You do not see, do not hear.

There are no more components
Not until we get through
The challenge of our failure
The cul-de-sac of our fear
Of mistakes proving inadequacy

Everyone makes mistakes
To learn to walk, talk, chalk
To play …. then the fear sets in
Politicians say mistakes render
The opposition unfit to lead

Everyone makes mistakes
To learn anything …. hence
The chasm of separation
Between the leaders and the led
The living and the nearly dead

The Unions are not in union
Kidnapped by capital forces
Now, the only way back
For democracy to be healed
Everyone join a Union

Unshackle the Unions then
To back the local folk
Break the partisan sickness
Break the whip against conscience
Restore the portals to the unseen

Join a Union, local to you
Break the links to Labour
Back the candidate for the locality
Restore independent voices
Break the easy management

The Unions frightened capital
In the early twentieth century
Capital drew it deep inside
The mighty puppet machine
To divide and rule, misrule

Back to the future
Join any Union in your locality
Become active in the Union
Replace sick leadership, sponsor
Any MP/Councillor to work for you

Restore the Unions
Wake up you working folks
All wings of politics
External to the machine
Make capitalism serve

Union is union, any union
Except when it isn’t
God has a Union
Those in it, know it –
Union is union, any union.
